Welcome to Live Front

I’m writing this update to the about page at 10:45am on Saturday June 28 2008.  I’m sure this would not be of any consequence if I was not leaving for a month long trek through Europe in exactly 65 hours. What better time to start a blog then less than three days before heading off on the trip of a life time… even though I should probably be booking a hostel in Rome right now.  All this to say, whatever happens it’s going to be one world of an adventure.

About Live Front

Live Front is a long evolving idea that has nagged at me for some time.  Part journalism, part travel blog, part photography expo, Live Front is many things and it is still changing. Perhaps explaining the name, Live Front, might help you understand the focus of this blog.  I originally wanted to call the blog Frontline Live but felt it was too close to the name of many other news programs.  The concept of a frontline carried over to the new name even if the word did not. I my mind frontlines do not only occur in war, rather frontlines are seen everyday when different people, cultures, and ideas come into contact with each other. Here on these frontlines of society I find the news and experience to be the most fascinating. Objective reporting on battles in Baghdad is just as fascinating, to me, as relating a personal struggle to understand street signs in Thailand. So if you are interested in news, photography, travel, or just me (as I’m sure my main audience is my friends and family) I hope you enjoy live front.

About Isaiah Brookshire

I always start bios with the semi self-aware, anti-narcissistic/narcissistic comment “I hate writing these about me sections”.  Now let me continue with a contradiction, I am the least traveled, well traveled person I know. I have left the United States a total of 3 times in my life but somehow feel like a world traveler. Hopefully Europe will allow me to add some meat to my travel resume.

I was raised on travel. Even though we seldom left the country my family had a tradition of a 3,000 to 5,000 mile road trip around the United States every fall.  I’ve slept in more rest stops and eaten more chili cooked over a Coleman in 20 years then most people will in there lifetime. Travel and adventure run in my blood.

As far a journalism and photography go I am just starting my carrier. I have a long way to go and can’t wait to go there. After finishing college at Calpoly San Luis, I took a year off to work and save for Europe.

With only 64:30 left until Europe I conclude this temporary about page.
